Tommy "tap-tap-taparoo" Tuberville singed a 6 year 3.3 million dollar contract. What does this mean? Sets another high standard for coaches salary in the SEC.

For you Miles hopeful people out there, Business is business and a successful SEC coach getting that kind of money only reaffirms the fact that its going to cost about that much to get Miles...

I totally agree!! If Nick Saban is making 4 million a year and Alabama was pretty bad this year, then Miles deserves at least 3 million if not more!

Yeah, its like "well the going rate for an SEC coach is 2.8-4 million bucks." What are you gonna do?

I understand Michigan is a prestigious university in likes of football, but so is Florida, Alabama, OSU, USC, Notre Dame, etc. All of these head coaches make more than Lloyd Carr and would make more than what Les Miles was apparently offered from Michigan. Save the Prestigious status for the birds, you have to pay to get the best! Les is coaching for a National Championship this year, he's 33-6 at LSU. Come on, Pony up some money Michigan and get the job done. Michigan has the money, I guarantee that. I'm sure alumni donations wouldn't be a problem...This whole coaching search just cracks me up sometimes

UM profits more off athletics than any other team in the big10. OSU has the most revenue, but we're paying out a ton for renovation payments, facilities etc....

The gross profit at UM is the highest

Seems to be the going thing to lock up a coach with an extension. Could also be a negotiating ploy by having your name thrown out as a possible candidate at other schools.

Not anymore it won't be; they're renovating the stadium ($226M), building a new indoor practice facility ($28M), and looking into renovating Crisler Arena (unknown). They're also looking to hire (supposedly) a $3M coach and will probably need to pay out the football OC/DC for another year once the new coach fires them.

Isn't the athletic department on pace to make something like $17 million profit this year? Didn't they agree to add on an extra year to all the assistants contracts, knowing Coach Carr was going to retire, just because Coach Carr asked them to, at a cost of $1.5 million? Aren't they doing a $226 million upgrade to the stadium? Aren't they building a $28 million football building?

The difference between what Coach Carr makes and what Coach Miles makes is "chump change" if it makes a difference on the field!
