Sack Lloyd Carr / Big Ten Talk / Defending the Spread Offense?............That is the question.

Man ohh man, West Va. and Mizzu both have spread schemes. But I think Pat White and the Mountaineers is more dangerous.

How would you defend them??

#1 I would place one guy on the QB. Spy him all game. The QB in this style offense is the motor that runs it. Either a speedy LB or a DB.

#2 I would line up 3 d-lineman and get as much pressure as I could , and having my LB's lay in wait to adjust to the play.

#3 Patinece is everything defending this offense. Alot of playaction screens, pitches, and direct snaps. If you have studied enough film on a team , then you should be able to have an idea what to expect out of any formation.

#4 Blitz on 1st down........just do it!!! ( not the same exact blitz, mix it up ) .

I think if you get enough pressure, and contain the QB, getting him doing things he is not suppose to, rattle him up you should be successful. It's been done before.

I say all of this because of the scenerio from last weekend. I am worried if the Buckeyes have to play either Mizzu or West Va. Because of thier style of offenses.

It's gonna be interesting................Go Bucks!

Well, basically, you employ the tried and true Dixon Dennis strategy. Take out the QB, win game.

Not rocket science.

They will smoke WV (if they get in that is).
