I'm pulling for Brian Kelly in the search. That said, if we don't get him, we can all hope that he stays in Cincy long enough to turn that program into something good and hopefully cut into OSU's domination of that state's recruits.

No team in the state of Ohio will ever compete with OSU in recruiting, in a "dominating" fashion. For one thing, no "good" coach lasts that long at Cincinnati, in football, or in the MAC. As soon as a coach has a big winning season {11-1 or 12-0} ,one of the major Powers, will scoop them up.
The coaching life expectancy of a "Good " caoch at Cincinnati is about 2-3 years. If kelly is really that good, he won't be there long enough to start any recruitng wars with OSU, which he knows is futile anyway.

It happens to all of the smaller programs around the country. Look at Utah, Urban Meyer comes in and coaches 2 years with the last "Good" coache's players, goes to a Big bowl game, and away he goes to the Florida Gators.

The other reason Ohio State wins the recruiting wars over Cincy and the Mac in Ohio is, that all the highly rated draft choices that come out of OSU, and the recruits know they are going to get the high profile exposure on ABC and ESPN, in regular regional and National TV broadcasts.

But the "Biggest" reason it's hard to recruit against OSU in Ohio, is that most of the kids grew up watching the Buckeyes, and want to be one, and that's as it should be. "Elementary, my dear Watson."

Michigan St.'s Javon Ringer grew up in Dayton Ohio for instance, and he wanted to be a Buckeye so bad that when Pete Carroll from USC called on him and made him an offer, he misssed his chance to play at USC, because he was waiting for an offer from the Buckeyes that never came. Of course Carroll took his offer elsewhere. Then it was too late, but he grew up a "Buckeye", and he waited. {this story was told during broadcast of OSU vs Mich. St. game on ABC}

I'm sure this same theme plays out all over the country for kids from other states who want play for the: "Team that me and my dad watched, when I was growing up." Whether it be The Lognhorns, the Hurricanes, The Sooners....etc, etc.

That's the reason the MAC usually plays OSU & Michigan tough at least for a half, those players were the ones who did not hear from Ohio State or Michigan at recruiting time, and grew up wanting to be Buckeyes & Wolverines.

This is classic! Buckeye fans get to hear about how obnoxious we are all of the time and then to read the first few post of this forum. What a joke. As for the coaching situation...I would love to see Les Miles come to Michigan. Its too bad Hart wont be around anymore because those two would get along great because both of them cant keep their mouths shut. The one guy i dont want to take the job is Kirk Ferentz. Everyone talks about Les Mile's coaching abilities but its not hard to win with someone elses recruits at a school like LSU. look at what Ferentz has done with the resources he gets to work with. Cincinnati's head coach Brian Kelly is the sleeper here.

Funny that you are so worried about the recruiting war between Cincy and OSU. Cincy is already competing with OSU in the state of OH. A lot of big time recruits in the Cincy area have already committed early to Cincy instead of OSU because of Kelly and his assistant, who is a local guy from Colerain. By the way, Kelly has UC's defense ranked higher than OSU's defense in MOST categories, so I wouldn't be so sure that UC is not already on par with them this year.

Then we definitely agree on something. I hope you get your wishes.

Or at OSU w/ the 2002 NC, right?

right but tressel has proved he can win since then with his own guys... in the last three years he has lost 4 times 2 of those loses were to National Champions and 2 were to big10 oppns... he has beat UM those 3 years and is 1-1 in bowl games hopefully with a rose bowl win he will be 2-1... this is much better than coopers coaching....

tressel is a good recruiter and a good coach

Nice post Bye Bye Lloyd. Your post shows the kind of stupid, inbred, and vulgar kind of people that go to Michigan. I am sure you could have gotten your point across without so much vulgarity, but your brain is obviously too small to have anything else in it. It doesn't matter if it is Lloyd Carr or Les Miles, Fear the Sweatervest. GO BUCKS!!!!!

Michigan thought that about Carr 7 years ago when he was 5-1 against OSU. He looked absolutely unbeatable against OSU. Reality can be a b*tch.

Michigan will take years to get the horses needed to run with Ohio State. The best thing that could of happened did happen Saturday, it rained and Ohio State could not spread you out and throw - and you still got crushed.

14-3 is not "crushed"...I would say 56-10 is "crushed"

As Jim Carville would probably say, "Its the coaching, stupid". Michigan has the same recruiting success as OSU - the deficit is in the coaching, not the talent.

If you think it will take years, you will be in for a harsh reality. Next year OSU and Michigan will still be the Big-2, with the final game deciding the conference.

I see Ohio State and Illinois being the big two, actually. I'm putting my money on Michigan State being over U of M as well. This isn't being mean-spirited, I hope I'm wrong.

actually he took over vs cooper who hadn't beat um yet so he just kept on beating cooper... it all changed when coop was replaced

Tressel is going to turn into a Carr and you turds are going to be on a fire JT web site in 5 years. The only difference, I won't waste my time going there to rub it in. Losers

Do you just think Michigan is going to hire Les Miles (or somebody else) and Ohio State is going to stop being good. Ohio State is loaded for the next few years and beyond. Miles is coming in an effort to get Michigan back to even. Tressel will continue to do his thing which is win games. The pressure is on Les Miles. He is the one under the microscope coming in on a white horse with pockets full of money. What is going to happen when Miles get his @ss kicked in The Shoe next year - or in the Championship Game this year (if things work out) by Tressel. I cannot wait.

don't fool yourselves buckidiots, the talents in place in michigan always, the coaching is coming, theres no rebuilding, idiots

i agree, rebuilding? the #2 god damnn QB out of the 07' class, are you kiddin me?!?!?! michigan is getting what it needs a fresh face stalking the sidelines. another top recruit All purpose back Sam Mcgufie is top of his 08' class attending michigan, talk about some true southern sec type speed? here's some names to also remember, KEVIN GRADY, he has been injured but has 2 years elgibility, he was a 5 star recruit a RB out of grand rapids, MI.with hampering injuries is ready to rip it up next season. ANTONIO BASS, also injured but another all purpose back/reciever, with sub 4.4 speed, ready for next season. RMEMBER THOSE NAMES!! does anyone on this site check out recruiting sites??? for real people get your facts right! rebuilding at michigan? haha next year osu vs. michigan for the big ten title again way more competitive. whatever coach they bring, with the talent michigan has coming in and returning from injury, and either miles, kelley, or martin, michigan will be in the hunt as usual.

The other after we lost one of our star athaletes at the beginning of the game.

so when willis mcgehee's knee took him out of the nat'l title game that somewhat taints osu's win against miami i guess? of course not!!!!! florida throttled osu in every phase of the game, so ginn or not, final score would have been the same, it was floridas TEAM speed and innovating coaching that dominated. just to add, ginns own teammates took him out of the game lol pretty pathetic...

B. Edwards finally figured out he should've went to TOSU b/c he now does the O-H-I-O at the browns games. Nice

braylon has grown up and matured, its sad that it takes him doing the o thing to win over the fans appreciation, when his stats speak for themselves. braylon has learned how stupid ohio fans really are. he wears his alma mater's clothes and colors in the locker room in front of media, so cleveland auomaticly has disdain for him? fuuyck that whatever though. good for braylon, but dont expect to see him sporting scarlett rags anytime soon. i love braylon, and you can even ask him who has helped him with the difficult transition to the browns, mr carr is like a father to braylon, he has so much respect for him and i gurantee carr has spoken to braylon helping him with his pro career and to this point, braylon having a pro bowl season.

and with all this trash about carr...come on people any true michigan man would respect carr for what he did not only on the field but for the university. i guess you have to be a graduate of U-M to know, but carr really took care of his players. he had a passion to teach our young athletes and mold them into outstanding people as well as atheletes. a fine example in tom brady, a great human being. tom really carries himself well both in life and on the field. give lloyd his credit people, he is a true michigan man. his last few years really dont account for all the good he has really done to our fine univiersity. he makes me prouder than ever to be a michigan fan/almun. i know i sound corny, and i also know we really needed a new coach, but whatever, i was truly sad watching him walk off that field for the last time on this saturday. i have been to so many games, including the app state game this season, and i could truly see he was just flat out, out of gas this season. the game has just past him by. and its sad to see him like he was this season. anyways, just remember the 97 nat'l title, remember woodson remember tom brady and all the other fine players who graduated out of carr's era and are doing great things in the NFL. carr has had alot to do with the fine tradition at our university.

GO BLUE!!!
-sorry so long just had alot to get out, and i dont get a chance to get on here as much as i'de like.

oh one more thing

when i say tradition, i mean how michigan's players stay the 4 years and graduate with a college degree. how many osu players just use their big name osu, to just jump to the NFL 2 or 3 seasons into their time at osu? osu is the butthole and the homies and thugs from ohio fuyck it up the butt to get to the NFL. thats all they care about. tressel would sign a 19 y/o convicted fellon who ran a 4.2 40yd. dash if he could! there's no passion. great example Mo Clarett. he didnt quite make it to the NFL, with all the grey goose, machine guns, and stolen goods he ended up IN JAIL. i know mo is such an easy target, but look at how many osu guys just leave. pittman, gonzo, etc. a recent bad recruit also to mention. the hooker seeking qb antonio henton!!!
sooner or later tressel ends up like larry coker of miami florida, a team of hoodlums and thugs and eventually osu will get into a huge brawl with kent state at the shoe' one season and lose his job, hahahaha thats just funny, cuz it sounds like it could so happen.
shyt, tressel will sign anything that runs fast no matter what. hey but it works for tressel cuz he keeps winning and keeps on producing stupid human beings, he dont care!

Les Miles is overrated. The only way he could ever win at Michigan is to come down and steal the talent from Ohio, just like Schembechler, Moeller, and Carr did.

This is a very trollish post. Of course Miles is going to get great recruits from Ohio, Michigan has been doing it for years. If this, in your opinion, is the only way for Miles to win in Ann Arbor, I like Miles as the next head coach.

14-3 is not "crushed"...I would say 56-10 is "crushed"

And I would say that final scores are not always indicative of how close or not a game is. I would say that OSU was pretty dominating despite the relatively close 14-3 score.

To quote the great Steven Tyler, "Dream On". I'll say it again. Michigan WILL be back soon. Whoever they hire is going to be an excellent coach and they will be back to greatness where they belong.

That said, The Buckeyes and Mr. Jim Tressel are NOT going anywhere. The saddest thing about the big ten the last 20 years is that when Ohio State has been up, Michigan has been down and vice versa. I'm predicting a return to the good old days when both programs are national contenders year in and year out.

stay tuned.......................

If script Ohio thinks we have no chance in Columbus next year, well, he is in for a rude shock.
Sam McGuffe is going to run all over them in our new coaches formation.

Go ahead, buckeye! Get all uppity! The higher you go, the harder you fall!

OSU didn't impress me at all against UM. IT wasn't that you were so good, it was we were so unprepared, so BAD!

Wisconsin beat us harder than you did a week before. And so did Appalacian State.

So don't come here acting all uppity. You only prove your lack of football knowlege.

BlueGoo:

Your an idiot. Ohio State not only crushed you by holding you under 100 yards of total offense, but Tressel did the classy thing and took a knee inside the five to end the game. Ohio State would of crushed you but the weather saved you. As you could tell (if you even wabtched the game) the game plan was to spread Michigan out with 4 and 5 Wr sets and run Beanie between the tackles. The weather made Ohio State one dimensional and we still beat the crap out of you. Next year Ohio State will be even better and at home - and you don't even have a coach yet. So for you to just shoot off your mouth without even knowing who the coach is and what kind of offensive mindset he will have just shows what a uneducated thread you really posted. If you think Tressel will just lay down because you have a new coach you nuts, if anything he will work even harder.

McGuffie, even if he does come, is not going to make an immediate impact like some of you hope. Let's try and be reasonable about our expectations. If nothing else, this past season should have taught us that.

Hey Script and OSUNut, you guys should know better than to assume that any Michigan team doesn't have a chance to come in and beat Ohio State. Do I have to remind you of '95 and '96. Both years Ohio State is undefeated and on course for a national title and Michigan had "no chance" right. Do you remember the outcome of those games? Don't forget '93 when OSU was 9-0-1 and went up there and got crushed 28-0 I believe it was.
C'mon, you guys shouldn't have to be reminded of those games.
