1) is UM's 4th or 5th choice 2) Not a Michigan Man 3) He knows nothing of the BIG Game at the end of the year (see John Cooper bio) 4) Not bright enough to know that coaching at your alma mater is your DREAM JOB (see Les Miles bio) 5)Not a big game coach (lost to arch rival Pitt 4 of 5 games) 6) $4,000,000 + 2,200,000 + Bonus divided by unrealistic first year expectations = PRESSURE (see Lloyd Carr bio) Shall i continue?

Denial is an ungly thing - are you trying to convince everyone you are happy that Carr is gone and replaced with RR? Keep drinking that Kool-Aid...

The purpose of this thread? I'm holding off on how I feel about Rod until he actaully coaches a Michigan team. Good Lord this needs to stop!

Every time a troll comes out against this Michigan hire just makes me believe more and more that UM got the right guy!

4) Not bright enough to know that coaching at your alma mater is your DREAM JOB (see Les Miles bio)
In your bizzare world, shouldn't Tressel's dream job be coaching at Baldwin-Wallace, his alma mater?
I guess Tressel isn't bright enough to know that was his dream job, and instead settled for OSU.
F*cking hilarious...

You are hot when we talk about sleeping with the enemy. Let's ditch this UM site and meet.
I was just kidding about RR. He is going to be a huge improvement and is way better than Miles.

I never said I was hot, I'm just waving my vixen flag around. Shhhhhhh......they don't know I'm just distracting them!! I was hired by a sackcarr.com spy. He goes under a Michigan name though.

The thread starter claimed that coaching for your alma mater is a dream job and that a person wasn't very bright for moving on. Michigan is a huge upgrade over W. Va., and it would be insane to pass on the job, no matter where you come from.
However, I will still take you up on the Corona, seniorita...
Before his hire no one had him at the top of their list, he is not LES miles my friend, and thats why we are sleeping good tonight
Go back and read how happy OSU fans were about having Miles as the Michigan coach. Just insert coach here ____________ . You'll have the same thing to say no matter who Michigan hired.

I'll give you that, but W. Va to Michigan compared to Baldwin-Wallace to OSU? I do have to give some points to him, although his did lose a bunch more proclaiming his love for Clarrett.

First of all...If you were a Michigan fan, WE'D be disappointed! Disappointed has 2 p's and 1 s.
Secondly...you're too highly biased to speak intelligently on this subject.
Third...Nobody expects you to buy into this hire because you're a NUT!
Lastly...the mere fact that you're coming here negatively about this hire proves that it has struck a chord in the buck nation community. I never saw statements from you regarding Lloyd Carr and his ineptness. Because Lloyd definitely caused you to sleep good at night. But now...you're coming here explaining to us how bad RichRod is???? That only proves the opposite. Keep on talking trash, and I'll keep on feeling better and better about this new coach!

Fourth - You didn't see him at the top of everyone's list because nobody thought he was going to leave WV. He's that good.

i will say i think rr is a much better coach than les miles i was praying um would get miles... but i have said it before i don't think osu needs to be scared, what i do think is that there will be a balance of power in the big10...
and with crook and the illini having speed now and if wiscy lives up to expectations with thier new coach the big ten will be better than the sec in a few years.... period...
not scared but honestly have to say tressel will not go 6-1 vs rr more like 4-3 and i have OSU beating rr for 2 years if most of our team returns next year

No one at Michigan was expecting Miles, Schiano, RR, etc. to "scare" OSU.
It has to be recognized that the stagnant, predictable, lackluster coaching that has come from Michigan for the past 7 years is gone. Bo era football is gone. Michigan has been able to "out-talent" everyone else in the Big-10 except for OSU for the past decade, without a modern playbook. Now, there will be some creativity and modernity in the game calling and proper utilization of the immense talent available
If that doesn't disappoint and concern everyone else in the Big-10 (including OSU), then a lot of fans aren't being honest with themselves.

2007 West Virginia:
National Ranks:
Total defense: #4
Scoring defense: #6
Takeaways: #4
Turnover Margin: +12
Total Offense: #18
Rushing Offense: #4
Scoring Offense: #11
All these COMPLETELY misinformed OSU "fans" think this is all about offense. WVU had one of the best defenses in the nation this season (across the board). Those who think RR can't coach BOTH sides of the ball are in for a RUDE awakening.

Are you kidding? If anything OSU has always had a dominant defense in their program. If any "fans" know about defense, it's O-H fans.

Most of RR's recruiting classes at WV were in the 30's or worse. He had absolutley no talent in state, and received only the castoffs from Penn and Ohio. He has done a lot with very little, even in the Big East world.

I believe what BBC was saying is that OSU fans think the RR hire was all about defense. That was sort of apparent by his display of WV's defensive stats, wasn't it? And also his comment about "coaching on both sides of the ball". Where exactly did you think he was saying that OSU didn't have a good defense??

p.s. i wanted WV or Cincy in the big10 so we could have a playoff, so we could play 2 weeks later and not sit out 6 weeks between games

Look, lets be honest, Carr as bad as his record, post Tress, was a true Mich man, like Tressel a man of character, was very honest at UM and with the kids in his program. Honestly I would not have slept as well if you guys had hired a coach with a giant heart and character like John Tressel don't YOU understand what makes a good coach a great coach thats why Tress beat Carr and Tres will always beat RR...Character 7) RR looks like Kelsey Grammer
