Captain Kirk at it again on ESPN today encouraging Mallet to transfer...

This is absolutely irresponsible. He cannot and should not be allowed to use his national media presence to encourage players to transfer from his alma mater's hated rival...

ESPN better wake up as they are being exposed for the national farce they have become.

Well, Herbstreit DOES rhyme with 'monstrous tool.' It's to be expected, I guess.

Knife, youre okay but please please do not call Herbie "Captian Kirk". You tarnish my Star Trek memories.

I do agree he's starting to shreik like Hillary and needs to shut up and 'report' the news not 'make' the news.

I defended the guy before but this is just completely unprofessional.

RR stated in his press conference that the offense he runs has ALWAYS been tailored to best suit his personnel. He made it a point to say we can pass a majority of the time or we can run a majority of the time, it really just depends on what kind of QB we have.

Kirk needs to pull his head out of his ***.

I hope people have learnt better than to lister to Queen Kirk. Mallett's Dad said that Ryan is going to talk to RRod before thinking about transfering.

I don't understand why RRod would not want Mallett; kid is the best recruit he's ever had till date, by far!! Find a way to use that arm!!

Mallet could flourish under RR.

If he can hold onto the ball, tht is.

If Michigan land Pryor like so many of you think you will - he should transfer. Does he want to look over his shoulder knowing full well the coach and fans want Pryor. Having two QB that want to play full time is not good for a team. When we had Joe Germain and Stanley Jackson it divided the fans. The first time the guy makes a mistake fans start screaming.

I agree. For Herbstreit to go out and instigate these types of things is very unprofessional. I actually used to like the guy, but as of late he's starting to show his true color. When did this happen?

I wanna know who was Herbie's sources on this idea.

Can someone write something to ESPN stating just how damn unproffesional this guy is (they should already know)? I thought he was not going to be allowed to report college football after his great Les Miles tip. Loser!

You are all basing this off of UM Knife's interpretation of his words. Does anyone actually have a sound bite?

Kirk Herbstreet does not have the authority or the influence anyone thinks he does. He is just another media blow hard.

He did not harpoon the Les Miles deal. If he did, he wound up doing us a favor and damaging only HIS reputation. Why would he do that?

He did not call out Breaston last year. He just said that Breaston was not playing up to his potential. Breaston wasn't, now that he is a pro, he is fuucking kicking ***. WHERE WAS THAT LAST YEAR?

He did not come right out and say "Mallett, hear this, get out of Ann Arbor right now!" And if Rod the ROD comes in and instills a type of offense that puts Mallett on the 3 year pine roller coaster, HE SHOULD TRANSFER! That is not fair to a kid of his potential who WILL excell in the pro game.

But Mallett is not going to transfer, and Mallett is going to star under Rod the ROD!

Because Mallett CAN RUN! MALLETT CAN RUN! Did you not see what he did with the rushing TD's this year? He certainly can take off with the ball if he wants to! Don't get down on the guy because he is 6'7"

The spread offense is more adaptable than you think, we know this and so does Mallett and his TOTALLY AWESOME BUCKEYE THREATENING COACH!

Don't think for a minute that Rod the ROD is not going to try to accomodate a player of his caliber at QB.

So, once again, what is it about Herbstreet that anyone here finds threatening?

HE HAS NO INFLUENCE!

I was listening to Tirico's show today too, and Herbie clearly stated his opinion that Mallet should transfer. It was in the context that RR's system does not suit his abilities. He went on to say that Pryor could then come in and run the offense from day one.

I would like to add that while I am no fan of Herbstreit, you all need to realize that he is paid by ESPN to analyze college football and share his opinions. I don't think this comment is nefarious at all. If Craig James or Mark May said this, ould you care what school they went too, and would you call for them to be fired?

Several points on this issue:

1. Pryor has NOT signed with anyone. Still think his best move is Florida.

2. Mallett ran out of the shotgun and spread in HS. RR is smart enough to know that he is used to this attack. This is NOT much of a change for him.

3. Mallett actually has more mobility than any UM QB since ill-fated Drew Henson (he of the $17 million Buckeye dollars). He can throw on the run and seems comfy rolling out, which NEVER suited Henne. I'm not saying Mallett is really fast, but after watching Navarre and Henne, he looks like Carl Lewis. The TD run vs. PSU should have been a sign of this. No way even a healthy Henne would have had the presence to put the ball down and run to the pylon.

4. All RR has to do is show Tom Brady run the spread for NE and let Mallett know that he can do the same here. Mallett is about as mobile as Brady.

5. Mallett will listen to his DAD and Coach RR and won't be stupid enough to listen to a Buckeye QB. I also think Loeffler is staying, which will help Mallett want to stay.

6. Clearly, Carr tried to force fit Mallett into the UM offense, in part because the offense was designed for Henne. RR's offense is a good fit for a guy who likes the shotgun.

How long do you think Mallett would stay healthy if he ran the spread option. When the speedy shifty runners get hurt every year, what do you think would happen to a slow 6'7 QB that runs so upright. Do you really want to expose your starting QB to that kind of punishment.

With every post you show what a moron you are, LOL

Let me guess you always wanted to play football, but being a snail had more ability than you, you could not. Were you the trainer for 4 years at your HS or did you play in the band

Swoosh:

You might want to change your name because after the bowl game Michigan is no longer a Nike school. They will have second class uni's as well.

You never answered the question. Name me one 6'7 QB that runs the spread / option.

I know one 6'6 QB that does. T. Pryor. Does an inch really matter 1OSUNUT? Ohhh sorry, I guess when all you have is an inch it really does. Didn't mean to get personal.
