Here's the official thread for your analysis and predictions on the Notre Dame game. What are Notre Dame's strengths and weaknesses? What can they exploit? How can they be beaten?

No name calling here. Just good old fashioned, informed football analysis.

Hhhhhmmmm....

ND will be packed full of surprizes this Saturday. I see Charlie doing some off the wall stuff--maybe even sneaking in the green unis.

I see LLoyd doing the same old tired, conservative stuff.

UM....green QB with one week's preparation against one of UM's biggest rivals....by a coach who never thought ahead enough to have him ready to play JUST IN CASE his senior starter went down....

DBs running amok in the secondary, big holes to run thru 2 yd past the line of scrimmage (as usual)....defense susceptible to crossing rts and slants all day (as usual)....missed tackles, dropped passes, and a VERY short set of plays for Mallett to run (Carr's not preparing this kid will prove very costly), Mike Hart gets 225 yds....but UM can't score without him.

ND....weak OL lets the DBs in until Charlie Weiss chews their backsides off at halftime, and ND stiffens like Ron Jeremy's wood....ND running game takes over and they grind it out....defense holds Mallett and co. down long enough to get a win....

Final....ND 17, UM 10

And it STILL won't be enough to fire Carr, going 0-5 since the OSU game!! (And next week, Penn State comes in and JoePa gets a taste of revenge, leaving UM 0-6 since OSU.)

I'm (gulp) going with Lloyd on this one. He has a lot more experience in the MICH - ND feud than Charlie Tuna. And don't forget the (gulp) huge home field advantage. Finally, I'm going with the odds too. The chances of Michigan going 0 - 5 since Bo's departure are astronomical. So there you have it.........a GUARANTEED Michigan victory. On the other hand, millions of Michigan fans could have entered the Twilight Zone.

I think I'm going to go with ND on this even though I don't like what it does to the Big 10. Thanks to Hart & his creative pep talk, ND honestly has nothing to lose in this game. THEY are coming in to the Big House. Loss at there isn't going to put much more of a stain on their record as it would Michigan's if Michigan loses AGAIN at their house.

Yea but Michigan has nothing either. I mean The NC is out of question and ND isn't a big ten so UM doesn't have anything to lose.

I would feel differently if the "fields were changed" so to speak. Michigan losing 3 times straight at home? That's what they're going to be fighting for.

Saw yesterday that ND's offense is ranked last in YPG. Ouch, 119 out of 119 teams. I think this game is going to make UM's defense look better than it has the past 4 games. Or at least in the 1st half. After that, Weis will get Clausen rolling out of the pocket more, and UM's defense will again not be able to tackle anyone.

Unless English has a fast forward button he can point & shoot with!

Lets think about it. Michigan is going to run the ball. Hart hasn't been stopped and I don't see ND doing it anytime soon. ND is starting the unforgiven one (QB Jimmy Clausen) but he doesn't know how to throw anything that isn't in the flat or a screen.

Michigan has been humiliated twice in a row. I see another 3 TD loss on the horizon for ND.

The good news for the Irish; Lou thinks it's one of the best teams in America, and will be deserving of an at large BCS bowl bid.

I'm just happy the football geniues hasn't been able to generate an offensive TD yet this year.

Here is what scares me about the game: Hart's guarantee.

He has done that in the past and what were the results again?

Conversely, how do you think ND is going to respond to it?

I will always root for our men in BLUE--but I got a bad feeling about this game--even though ND is almost a perfect mirror image of UM for the last 4 games.

Only difference I've seen is ND seemed to improve just a tad more in the Penn St. game then Michigan did against the Ducks. Head to head, low scoring game, but I'm sticking with what I said, it's about ND not losing a thing.

Never underestimate bad coaching, Lloyd's trying to piece together a losing game plan as we speak. There was a good point about ND being worst in YPG; however, I think it's just a matter of time until they find at least one athlete to put at receiver. With Clausen starting for sure, it may be time to put Jones out to WR. That may be the key; getting more speed on the O side of the ball.

Despite the bad D's, I actually expect more defensive points than offensive points in this game. As a matter of fact, that's probably both teams best chance to score. So in a way, Morgan Trent will be your QB this week. I think ND's D is improved from last year and I expect them to contain Hart. ND gets the "W" in the worst offensive game ever.

Michigan can run the ball effectively and will grind ND down. ND cheats with their DB's to try to stop the bleeding which will open them up for a couple long balls. UM offense will roll this week.

ND offense will make the Michigan defense look pretty good. UM pulls a gut check and rights the ship this week. UM 31 ND 10

Carr will last through the rest of the season and then retire.

ND has a horrible offensive line, Michigan has too much experience on offense to lose this one.

Michigan gets ahead early & tees off on Clausen.

That was just because of the breakfast burrito that idiot ate this morning.

He's feeling much better now.

Tonya Hardings ex boyfriend was seen lurking around the Big House yesterday. Wonder what was up with that?

UM 35 ND 17

This game will be very back in forth due to lack of defense on either side of the ball and Fresh QBs at the wheel of the Offense.

Hart will put up some big numbers rushing - I'll project 250-300 for the game and have 3-4 rushing TDs. I think we will again score a majority of our points off burning the corners with Manningham if Mallet can get in rythm with the offense.

I'm sticking with my less the 6+/- spread for I think this game won't be a blow out for again both squads D look horrible.

Eh... Here's how you beat Michigan:

Trick Plays: From what I can see, it doesn't look like they've been prepared for this obvious threat. The Statue of Liberty plays had them completely baffled.

Scoring big early: By scoring early, you'll force Michigan to throw the ball, thus bumping Hart down to a minor threat.

Start with one strategy, then change it around completely in the second half: Self explanatory, Carr doesn't seem to be able to adapt, and it looks like English can't either.

How Michigan beats Notre Dame:

Use Hart often, but mix it up: I noticed that Oregon seemed intently focused on Hart. The one or two times we used a trick play, we had some modest gains. Use the HB option, Hart needs to practice throwing the ball during the week. Double reverses and some convincing fake hand offs can also give Michigan the opportunity to take advantage of Hart's apparent greatness. A truly great player can affect a ball game more than stats can tell you. Still, Hart'll need to give it his all to win this one.

Play tighter defense: I've noticed in the last few games that Michigan doesn't light to press up on the wide receivers. They'll have a CB 10 yards away from his man at times. Zone defense doesn't seem to work for Michigan, and I guess they're too afraid to go man-to-man to often... Don't be. It shouldn't take much to penetrate the Notre Dame O-Line and rush the new QB.

Whatever happened to Super Mario?: Bring the guy back... in his Sophomore year the guy did great things, and he's shown that he still can. With defenses focusing on Michigan's running game, it's time to start throwing the ball. I don't mean we need a complete change in the offense, but you have to admit, you can't when a game purely on the ground if your defense is in the shape it's in.

A tie up until half time, then Notre Dame wins it in an agonizingly terrible day for both defenses.

UM 21 ND 10. Both teams suck, but both teams have a ton to lose this season. Recruiting and respect! Michigan is at home and therefore will win. Shoe may be on the other foot if it were at ND. Will be largely run attacks, but the UM defense will make Clausen look decent. He will complete some short passes for big gains. Good thing he isn't as mobile as the last two athletic quarterbacks we faced. He can get out of the pocket, but UM won't feel as threatened by his legs and there isn't an all-star cast of receivers for them to worry about (like OSU and USC had).

Battle of the Beatens. Hart ran his mouth, but he is a leader and was trying to inspire. Any emotion ND has towards that fizzles in the second quarter.

sorry, i guess i should say respectable finish. Respect is relative. It's there, but relative to the fan/team.

UM wins pretty easy. ND is the worst, most unathletic team I have seen in a long time. While UM is certainly struggling and appears to have given up on the season, the Wolverines still have much better athletes than ND. Charlie is going to be feeling the heat after this one, especially if Willingham is able to beat OSU.

I don't see how anyone can predict against Michgan in this one.

-4 rushing yards this year for Notre Dame.......-4 people......15 sacks in the first 2 games.....15 people......they have 1 kind of attack and that's passing, and they don't even have talent in that position.

Michigan has Mike Hart, Notre Dame has yet to prove they can stop the run, Michigan has Mallet, not necessarily a great thing but it comes with Manningham, Arrington, Matthews etc....

Michigan has WAY,WAY, WAY more talent all around....cross out that neither team has a defense and Michigan wins in a landslide...

31-7 for a second straight blowout against a talentless Irish team.
