I'll be at that game, but I really will be thinking about September 1...After that day, Sunday football is meaningless until January.

That is what I am really looking forward too, I'll be sitting in the east end zone, with my 2006 student shirt on, going nuts after every play Hall makes.

What about the AFL? I am sure everyone has been watching that, quality "never was" players on a midget field. Nothing better.

I don't pay much attention to the NFL this early but I thought I heard that most of the top drafts weren't signed yet. I know every year the top 5 or so all like to see how big another top 5's contract is so they can negotiate better. Nothing new or any cause for alarm.

Calvin is waiting to see what kind of contract JaMarcus Russell gets. He thinks he should get something comparable to a QB must be. Granted he will make a bigger impact in his first year or two, but sure don't deserve QB of No. 1 money. Most of the other picks are signed except for Brady Quinn, because he is an idiot and a couple of other randoms out of the top ten, because they are greedy SOB's.

August 3, 2007
ALLEN PARK, MICHIGAN (TICKER) -- The holdout for Calvin Johnson is over.

The second overall pick, Johnson signed a six-year contract with Detroit on Friday, eight days after the Lions' opened training camp.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Regarded as the top offensive player in the draft, Johnson finished his three-year career at Georgia Tech as the school's all-time leader in receiving yards (2,927) and touchdowns (28). He also ranked second in receptions with 178.

Last year, Johnson tied for second in the nation in touchdowns with 15 while establishing a single-season record for the Yellow Jackets with 1,202 receiving yards on 78 receptions. He was honored with the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver, and named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.

After a 3-13 campaign last season, the Lions made Johnson for the fourth receiver they have drafted in the first round in the past five years.

oh you know it might be a delayed telecast. IIRC they do that a lot with pre-season. Tape it and show it at 11 or later on the weekend.
