Sack Lloyd Carr / Other Detroit Area Sports / DO you want the Lions to try and sign David Carr?

Now that the Texans are swapping first round picks with the Falcons (8 for 10) and also giving up a second round pick in exchange for Matt Schaub, suddenly David Carr becomes expendable.

If I were Matt Millen I would make a deal for David Carr to land a viable starting quarterback alongside John Kitna.

This would free up the #2 overall pick to take someone other than Russell/Quinn and instead go after Adrian Peterson or package away the pick in a deal for multiple picks.

Carr can make all of the throws an NFL quarterback needs to make, and with Martz's tutelage, he could be a real steal. It's not his fault he's had to play for the Texans his first several years.

They could draft Johnny Unitas and still be losers. Talent doesn't get developed in Detroit. It gets destroyed.

That sounds like alot of work. We should just pick Joe Thomas and ruin his career.

Would you rather have David Carr or Trent Green?

Apparently Green is an option: Here

Martz likes veteran quarterbacks and there is nothing that says Josh McCown is any worse than Carr. I would like to get Green to put an end to the Brady Quinn idea.

Its bad enough that I had to learn to like a guy like Spielman, but Quinn....out the question.

Green was the starter in St. Louis before he tore his ACL, and that opened up the job for Kurt Warner. The Lions would be better served signing Green or Carr, and then drafting Peterson or Thomas, than getting either Quinn or Russell.

Detroit couldn't win 7 games if they were issued sidearms.

I like Kitna. 3rd in passing. Anyone who can take that kind of beating and get back up has to have some cojones. Quinn did, too. But I hate them focking domers as much as those suckeyes.
