I think he is now officially the most classless guy in the big10.

MSU's Dantonio has little to say about Rodriguez
Dave Dye / The Detroit News

EAST LANSING -- The last time Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio talked about Michigan, it got a little personal with his public "pride comes before the fall" warning.

This time, Dantonio was brief.

Asked how well he knows Rich Rodriguez and for his reaction to the hiring at Michigan, Dantonio said, "I know Rich just from being in the Big East with him in meetings for two years. As far as my reaction to that job, we are Michigan State. So that's my reaction."

Dantonio coached against Rodriguez when the MSU coach was at Cincinnati.

What did he say that offended you?

Nothing he said offended me. He's proud of MSU and he should be. WE ALL SHOULD BE PROUD because I think our conference is getting better as a whole. Illinois, Michigan getting a younger more modern coach, MSU getting Dantonio, Ohio State of course and IU approving, look out SEC another couple years and we'll be back on top

Dantonio is a d-bag regardless of what he says. He also knows his goal of becoming the best team in the state just got a lot harder.

Why on Earth should anyone care about what comes out of MSU? This jerkoff is just trying to START a rivalry in the media because he knows he doesn't have one on the field.

Exactly, its pretty laughable and immature. What would have been wrong on commenting about when they both used to coach in the Big East, etc.? Anyone know what RRods record against Dainty was back then?

Dantonio is an OSU boy, going to get owned by COACH DOGG! ROD THE ROD IS HERE!

Do you see why Dantonio isn't smiling? His aaasss is long grass and Rod the ROD is the lawn mower, baby!

Dantonio may or may not be a d-bag, I have no idea. I hardly think his comment is worthy of d-bag characterization though, IMHO.

It was not as nice as Tressel's but is anyone as smooth as Tressel?

Not this comment I guess, I was referring to his whole body of work; from the 'app state moment of silence' to trading jabs with Hart, guy is quite a piece of work. Very unlike most Big10 coaches (including SVest).

What does Tressel have to do with this post? He is hands-down the most deliberate and classy guy in the Big 10, I don't think you need a footnote for him.

I think the reason Michigan fans hate Dantonio is not that he coaches MSU, but rather, that he is always so self-rightous. His behavior is just like the supposed "arrogance" that MSU fans constantly whine about when talking about UM fans.

That quote above, "As far as my reaction to that job, we are Michigan State. So that's my reaction," is just another example of the typical inferiority complex that exists in East Lansing. Why not comment on the hiring objectively? I admit UM people can be arrogant from time to time, but Dantonio's attitude makes me sick. When he says things like that, I feel like saying, "who the f u c k are you"?

This guy needs to win a few big games before he can have the right to run his mouth. The good news is, his tyrades and his stupid gimmicks (like the clock) only serve as motivation for UM to continue to dominate the series.

As much as I "hate" Sweater Vest because of his success against UM, I have a ton of respect for the guy personally and for his coaching skill.

RR also seems like a good guy and is better with the media than Lloyd who could alternate between nice or prickly.

Either way, with Lloyd or RR, I think we still have class.

Dantonio hasn't proven much yet. He is more like Darryl Rogers and his AA comment. Rogers at least won one game vs. UM before leaving for more money at ASU.

As good a coach as Tressel is, his skill was amplified by Lloyd's obvious decline. Lloyd's UM teams in the 1990's were never as unprepared as I saw vs. ASU this year or at home vs. Minny in 2005. His skills were in decline.

Honestly, I'm just very happy we got a very good coach after bombing the Miles situation. It was beginning to look like Brady Hoke.

The one thing I will miss about Carr is his halftime interviews. Someone should put together a classic montage of his snippets and snide remarks to the sideline reporters. It would be a best seller for sure. Especially when it was some stupid chick reporter, "Lloyd, why did you take a knee right there before the half?" Lloyd responds, "What a stupid question!"

I think he's going about it all wrong. The best way to START a rivalry is to shut your mouth and actually win a couple.

?? I grouped Tressel with all the other classy Big10 coaches.

I'm also guessing Dantonio is a bit pissed that if he had waited a year, he would have been up for the UM job. Totally glad we didn't get his cranky ***..

Dantonio is a d-bag

I totally disagree and don't think there was anything wrong with his response. With RR, Tressel, Zook and Dantonio, the Big Ten is on the mend.

It does exist. Check this out.
