Even if LSU is not on top anymore and has a much tougher schedule then the top 3, the fact is they can be beat. There is no dominating team this year.

Right now Ohio is dominating. Frankly, I am not sure how anyone could argue they aren't thus far.

Ahhh...the "Any given Saturday" debate...this should be new and original.

I will say this...the polls say OSU is #1 and SF is #2...until they lose that should not change.

Any team can be beat any year. It's just a matter of if it happens. LSU lost to a tough team on the road. Ohio still has tough road games ahead. It's way too early to be in a SoS arguement.

When we have 4 major undefeated teams with one week remaining then there'll be merit to the discussion. Until then...a lot of team have a lot of wins to accumulate.

I agree...It is what it is! The polls have to have it this way. But, do I think tosu and sf are the best 2 in the country???

No, I don't.

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY = POWERHOUSE

How can you argue otherwise?

No one is saying otherwise. They should be, based on whom they are playing.

Exactly, like a football jock beating up kids on the short bus, Ohio's strength is thoroughly tested.

That was the perfect setup.

Hehe, I had to take that opportunity to play the other side there.

I am so confused. Why is everyone speaking in code?

The arguement preceeds the subtle aspect of the inverse reaction to the humorous nature of the original subject.

Exactly what I was thinking.

tOSU is not a power house.... and they are not a great team i have said this before... but they are a really good team that does what needs to be done therefore as stated in another thread they haven't shat there pants yet and if they don't they deserve to be #1 but i wish we were still #2 or #3 right now and be #1 or #2 after a win on nov17th...

You don't really have a factual arguement, DS152, when they are winning by a margin of 29 ppg (giving up just 6.5 ppg). That is dominating and it's a sign of a powerhouse until they are tripped up. As much as I'd like to agree it's impossible to make that assertion until they prove otherwise.

Yes, with 72nd most difficult schedule in the nation, OSU certainly looks like a powerhouse.

Actually, based on current SoS it's 58th.

So Dominating Youngstown and Kent state makes a team a "powerhouse" and dominant? Following that logic South Florida are a dominant powerhouse. Heck, you can make a better case for Arizona State, as they beat UW by more than OSU.

No team that I am aware of has a better ppg margin of victory or has given up less ppg.

I would agree that SF and Az St. could very well end up being powerhouses the way they are playing, but with the facts that we have now, at this juncture, Ohio simply has better all around numbers.

i am a huge OSU fan i'm just saying that right now we are not a powerhouse... we are playing very good ball and if we keep winning by 30 through the meat of the schedule then yes we can call tOSU a powerhouse.. all i'm saying is that they are doing what needs to be done and that winning week in and week out

Well, you can say that and believe that, but all indications now point to the fact that they are. Powerhouse teams dominate opponents. That's the definition and Ohio meets the criteria even if they have a moderately weak SoS thus far.

I agree it'll gain merit with weeks to come or simply not be, but at this juncture it's incorrect to say they aren't by definition.

I think the term powerhouse needs to be defined better: If we are talking about a team that is a lock to go wire to wire and win the NC...no they certainly are not...

However, I contend that most top 10 teams are "powerhouses"...I would further contend that to be a "powerhouse" you have to be a winner on a perennial basis...thus, the following schools would meet my definition of powerhouse if we go back as far as the year 2000:

LSU
FL
USC
MICH
OSU
TX
OK

and others of course...these are just examples...Powerhouse to me is something that is earned over time, not just in one season.

72nd - straight from the NCAA:

Well, if you want to change the definition to suit your view...

Fact still remains that you are relying heavily on conjecture. If you look strictly at concrete facts there isn't a team that is better than Ohio.

I agree they aren't most likely to win NC, imo. However, going of what we have, actual factual evidence, there is not team better on paper.

Man. So we've seen 118th (Sten), 58th (Egami) and 72nd from Cinco. All these numbers have proven is that they can't be proven.

Right now I agree...and I agree with the current ranking...I do think there are more talented teams that have lost games. You can only take that for what it is worth, which, of course, is nothing.

Besides, as a Michigan fan, it's my job to make Ohio look as good as possible so when we take them out behind the shack in Ann Arbor we look better.

That is my thinking. LSU may be the more talanted team yet they've been beaten. OSU may be undefeated but they have a lot of weaknesses. For me, THIS SEASON, there hasn't been one team that has stood out and yelled "fear me" and everyone stops and listens.
