Michigan's unis look like practice jerseys, they are ugly and suck. Honestly, I think USC may have the most recognizable b/c of the colors they have.

Michigan is funny b/c they call themselves the Wolverines, but they can't keep them alive or in their state. QUIT MURDERING YOUR OWN MASCOT!!!!

but seriously...how can you guys rip off your winged-helmet from princeton and then pass it off as one of the great symbols of football?

you could argue the bucks colors suck (i disagree, but you could argue that) but at least everything about the colors, the uniform the traditions, are all original.

Too bad you guys can't say the same thing

Not to change the subject, but to the writer who stated "Quit murdering your own mascot", amuse yourself by researching the history of Texas's mascot, Bevo, the longhorn steer. In the early 20th century, they had the original Bevo. After only 2 or 3 seasons, they slaughtered him and served him at the team banquet! This is no joke! It really happened! Now tell me: who in their right mind eats their mascot???

I don't like U of M, but, while they can't seem to keep wolverines alive, they don't actually go out and kill them either.

They only kill deer.

Keep your kids inside during hunting season.

I think alot of these Michigan fans actually do serve Wolverine while cooking out in the trailer park. I know if I ever see one on the road I would surely try to hit it with my car. It's the least I could do to help feed a starving Michigan fan. You see us Buckeye fans are capable of good deeds.

To all dumba$$es who claim they're from this place or that place: Quit trying. It's very clear that it is retards from Ohio claiming they're from Michigan or UM fans or whatever and trying to pose like they're some big national travellers or something. Everyone knows you morons can't find your way out of a paper bag, much less your own pathetic state. As far as national attitude for Michigan or Ohio, I can assure you that the stink hole that pollutes Michigan's and Pennsylvania's borders is far more looked down upon. As far as football goes it's no contest. UM is much more highly regarded and does far more sales nationally of clothing and the like. You poor rejects get a few wins that UM gave you and you start blowing smoke like you actually mean something or have any value to society. Your spelling is atrocious and your grammar is even worse, not to mention your pathetic little grade school jabs.
Oh, and by the way, I'm from Ohio and I'm an OSU fan.
That's just about as believable as some of the toxic drivel you wastes-of-space are putting on this board.

The writer above is probably the same one who didn't really read previous postings either. 1.) I never "posed" as a Michigan fan. In fact, I specifically stated I DO NOT like U of M. 2.) I never said I was a "national traveller." I said I've LIVED all over the country. If you must know, 14 different places.

By living in places (as opposed to visiting them), one gets to know people. All I can say is that the attitude about Michigan EVERYWHERE is not good. And now that I'm stuck living here, I can see why. There is NOTHING in Michigan that's even on par with most of the rest of the country. The roads suck. (One study ranked them as 3rd worst in the nation.) The cost of living is high. The quality of products and workmanship (and particularly homes) is poor. The people are the rudest I've seen anywhere with one exception: Miami. The climate sucks - it's overcast most of the time. The cities are dirty. Taxes are unreasonably high. I could go on and on and on.

You may like Michigan. I'm just saying that the rest of the country is better in everything. And in and among all of this, U of M is not well thought of. I didn't say it was considered terrible. But it's not "highly regarded" either. The attitude that I, personally, heard from residents of other parts of the country about Ohio State was much better. And I do mean MUCH better. Blame it on what you will - that's the opinion of people around the country, who have seen and experienced things that apparently you haven't.

So just how many different states have YOU lived in? What's YOUR standard of comparison? My guess is you've never been out of Michigan.

There's nothing wrong with liking your home state. Just don't put blinders on to the rest of the world.

By the way, do Michigan fans realize that, while they call their stadium "The Big House", other places in the county joke about it, and call it "The Pig House"? I just about fell off my chair laughing the first time I heard that!

"The Pig House"...funny.

Michigan Stadium shows bigger is not always better anyway.

Nice spelling. You repeated third grade, didn't you.

Would that be the way you beat the shit out of Notre Dame? Or the way you beat the shit out of Wisconsin? Or the way you beat the shit out of Minnesota? Or the way you beat the shit out of Ohio State? Please clarify.

And weren't three of those in the Pig House?

about the colors, the uniform the traditions, are all original.

Let's review OSU wonderful traditions:

A blank silver helmet is a statement of originality? Ummm...yeah...did it take a team of OSU's best and brightest to design a helmet that is ...uh...blank? Did you rip off PSU, the only school that put less effort into designing their helmets by using all-white ones?

By the way, your logo/mascot looks like a deformed silver testicle. I believe you're the only school that has a nut as the mascot - yes, your chests should be swelled with pride over that. Nothing motivates athletes more than being represented by...ummm..nuts...yeah... I have two of your logos hanging between my legs right now...lol...

Your "best damned band in the land" blows, including that feminine, prancing homo, high-kicking as he "dots the i" in Ohio. It wouldn't suprise anyone if he has had his "i" dotted with male DNA more than a few times.

Your song, "Hang on Sloopy", is gay, gay, gay- another hokey, embarrassing tradition that makes you a joke.

Do I even need to start on "Brutus" the ankle-grabbing buckeye mascot?

I don't know of any school that has a lamer conglomeration of absurd and embarrassing traditions.

You might say michigan is a shitty place to be, but during my yearly trips their I have found it to be the best place I have ever visited. I could ditch Pittsburgh any day for Michigan, and not regret it for a second.

Captain "lived in 14 places", you're pathetic. You must assume we're all as stupid as some of the Buckeye posters on this board. Let's review.
You say you're stuck in MI. Why? Is it the only place that would give you a job? You're right, then. That does give MI a bad name to have a company that would hire you.
My dear God you say the cost of living is high?! You're high. Compared to many, many so-called "desirable" places to live elsewhere in the country MI is not anywhere close to them. Apparently you've lived in Miami so you've had to have seen it there.
Climate sucks and it's overcast most of the time? That right there blows your credibility out of the water. There's not many sunnier places in the U.S. in the summer. The winter isn't even that bad. Most of the "overcast" is smog and pollution from that toilet Cleveland anyway.
Now let's get down to the crux of the matter. You say you don't like UM and that's fine. You sound like a whiny biotch that would be better suited for OSUcks, anyway. Do you just go around the country asking people about their feelings for UM vs. OSU? I'm from MI but I've lived in NC, Il, and Vegas. I've had more than a few discussions in sportsbars and sportsparks in all those places and nobody I've ever talked to ever said anything too negative about either UM or OSU or either state, for that matter. Of course, they all had their favorite college or pro team they rooted for and none of them were from MI or OH. But to say (like you do) that everyone in the country hates UM and MI is pure B.S. You've exposed your OSU loyalties and made your ridiculous claims a pitiful, juvenile concoction of lies and personal bias.
And finally, if you're not OSU or OH biased then what the crap are you even doing on this board? You're a joke and a blowhard. I can respect the hapless morons that get on here and bash UM because they're hopeless Buckeye fans. That's their right and their just showing their spirit and that they hate UM as much as most sane people hate OSU. This is a huge rivalry and respect for the other team's fans and players is not allowed or expected. But to have some self important moron like yourself get on here and act like you've taken a national poll everywhere you've lived is just too stupid to even give credit to.
Do us MI people a favor and get the hell out of our state. Unless we're the only ones that offer the job you're in, in which case I'd stop biting the hand that feeds your sorry ass.

You mustn't blame ANY MASCOTS without having your own.

Oh by the way, why is Shitroit, err...Detroit still claiming itself "Motor City"?
None of the Big Three produce cars there. The only thing whole state of Michigan produces is Carr, not car.

America's true "Motor City" is Marysville, OHIO - suburb of Columbus.

Go Bucks!!

You mustn't blame ANY MASCOTS without having your own.

That's like saying that I can't criticize anyone for having a venereal disease because I don't have one myself.

The point is - we don't have, want, or need a stupid mascot. I don't know what a big, stupid looking mascot has to do with sports. Michigan is one of the few programs with enough sense and pride to refrain from engaging in such stupidity.

To 1OSUNUT:
Kick Ass uni's. Michigan has helmets stolen from Princeton and generic solid jerseys and pants. City leauge teams get solid uniforms because there cheap. Granted there not as bad as Oregon,Miami,VA Tech or Flordia who change uniforms every week. Maybe Michigan SHOULD wear throwback uniforms in a attempt to recapture there past sucess. You should be embarrassed to even sugest that they have kick ass uni's. From what it looked like on saturday though the jerseys are water proof because the tears rolled right off them.

Before you complete your academic work, be sure to sign (X) up for an English grammar course. Perhaps during this time you would learn the difference between there, their, and they're. These words do sound a lot alike, but the usage and meaning are different. Until that time please limit your responses to just a few words of which you have command, and to subjects for which you have something of value to offer. Then again I am assuming that you have had some exposure to Standard English down there, but this is probably my mistake.

Princeton - Why are they always mentioned as having their design "stolen" by Michigan? Michigan has been using the design since the 1930s. Not exactly "breaking news".

Who did OSU steal their imaginative blank / gray helmet's from? Here is a multiple choice question:

a) a gray tumor extracted from Woody Hayes' shriveled prostate?
b) the gray hair on Tressel's wife's pubes?
c) the gray matter that is absent from most OSU player's empty heads?
d) the "gray area" that exists in Tressel's compliance with NCAA regulations that allowed him to keep his 2002 National Championship even though he played ineligible, dirty players like Claurette?

If is was not for Michigan International Speedway I would have no use for the whole stinking state. I cannot wait to see this site when Nebraska beats the Wolverines in mid December.

True the Buckeyes helmets start out being plain silver with black, white and scarlet stripes on them. Then as there start winning games the Buckeye leafs start to give the helmets the most unique look in football. The Buckeyes home uniforms are the sharpest in all of college football. Make sure you Michigan fans watch the Buckeyes when thet play Notre Dame. All the helmets will have alot more leafs on them for beating your asses again this year. The players thank you.

Scarlet is still a color for fags, no matter how you spin it. There is nothing in any heterosexual male's closest that is "scarlet'.

I least I don't wear yellow and blue, oh wait I'm sorry is that Maize and bullshit, oh and wait at least we have an actual mascot. Your school wants and I'm quoting here, the student body to best embody the spirit of the wolverine by buying wolverine claws. What idiot would wear wolverine claws? There aren't any wolverines in MICHIGAN!!!!! At least we actually have buckeyes in OHIO!

They do because they are whole bunch of idiots. Ann Arbor is still a whore.

at least we have an actual mascot.

Mascots are used to entertain stupid people who have too short of an attention span to pay attention to the game for 60 minutes. Michigan fans don't need or want a mascot.

Brutus is an embarassment, and therefore totally appropriate at a goober school like OSU. Heard often at the HorseShoe - "Look mom, what is that big testicle doing running around on the field!" Yes, you've got a lot to be proud of...haha...

At least we actually have buckeyes in OHIO!
Wow, you have nuts in Ohio! You'd better rush that information over to the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, tourtists are going to be flocking to Ohio because you grow a bunch of useless nuts that no one can actually eat! Pathetic...

We eat Buckeye, which is peanut butter with chocolate coating. It's yummy.
It's famous souvenir of Columbus.

Wolverine, on the other hand, is not even edible. It merely stinks.
